Da Fat Cat Clique
DFCC Records (FC4427)

A good but obscure Philly effort that still impacts new heads to this day. A four-cut joint led by the posse smash "Da Flow", featuring local faves The Man They Call Lux, EST from Three Times Dope, and Ruggedness Madd Drama.

  • A VERY interesting blend of styles from this slept-on Illadelph crew. The first cut, "My Tracks" is some summertime smooth stuff...But...BUT...Da Flow..."Da Flow" is the sh*t...f---in great beat and posse lyricism that works on practically every MC featured on it. I'm surprised th is sh*t isn't making more noise than it is. Plus, the B-side "Live From Fox Valley" is decent too. Definitely worth picking up for "Da Flow" though... - O-Dub, KALX

  • "Da Flow" has a nice little piano and reminds me of that Nonce remix back a couple summers ago. This is undoubtedly the highlight of this piece of vinyl for me and is above average material..."Da Flow" was good enough that the EP was something worth checking out... - Jay Bee, Hip Hop Vibes

  • Illadelph's Fat Cat Clique delivers an overall smoother-than-average array of tracks, ranging from the slow paced sing-songy flows of "My Tracks" to the highly improvisational, almost gospel-sounding vibe of "Gettin' Over." Track-for-track, the EP is solid enough, and likeable...For instance, "Live From Fox Valley" makes use of an irrestibly catchy bassline and simple piano break..."My Tracks" is also very catchy, utilizing a more experimental, harmonized flow over a different take on AZ's "Mo' Money, mo' murder..." This is what the group really gets by on...[it's] their innovative deliveries which set them apart from most other independents... - Raiz, In Tha Kut
