The Funk 45 Files began as nothing more than a good idea - "Let's dedicate a selection of the mag to those unsung heroes of the American funk movement. Put their names out there. Give the musicians a chance to tell their own story." In a lesser magazine, we believe that the concept would have flopped into sensationalized garbage, edited with a deficit of attention and a desire to wait for the story to be shown on TV.
