What happens when you give the same breakbeat records to a diverse array of DJ's, producers and turntablists and see what kind of interpretations they come up with? That's what Ninja Tune daddies Coldcut decided to find out for their "More Beats + Pieces" project. They pressed up a custom 12" with a variety of well-known drum samples and gave a pair to each of the following individuals: Strictly Kev (aka DJ Food), Kid Koala, Ollie Teeba (The Herbaliser), DJ Q-Bert of Invisibl Skratch Piklz, and John McEntire from the Chicago lo-fi funksters Tortoise. The results are six surprisingly different yet equally dope instrumental compositions. This specially-priced CD also includes the wild and colorful Quicktime video for the original version of "More Beats + Pieces" on a separate enhanced section of the disc.
